How to add a Gmail signature

Another one of those frustrations when starting a new business is how to create a Gmail signature that is personalised to you and your brand.

Learn how to add a personalised Gmail signature by following these 6 straightforward steps:

1. Open Gmail

First things first! Open and sign in to your Gmail account.

2. Click on the gear icon…

Once you are signed in and on your mail page you will see a gear icon in the top right corner (see below). First click on this.

3. Click on settings…

The box will appear. Scroll down and click on settings.

4. Click on the ‘General’ tab

Make sure that you are in the general tab (see arrow below). This should be the default page so you shouldn’t have to change anything.

5. Scroll down to ‘Signature’

Here is where you can edit your signature. How it appears here is exactly how it will appear on your emails. Consider using branded colours, logos, photos of you, company fonts and add links to your website, social channels and any other contact details.

6. Click on ‘Save Changes’

Don’t go to the trouble of doing all of the above and forget to click ‘save changes’. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find it.

Draft an email to check it has worked

You have now inserted your own branded Gmail signature. Before leaving, draft an email to check that it has worked like the example below.
