This web design case study looks at my latest project.
The recent winner of our Instagram competition, Juliet, is a soprano from Manchester. She wanted a new portfolio style website to help advertise her services to a wider audience.
Design brief
Juliet is a soprano who performs around the country so she wanted a web design that could support the following:
- Promoting her services
- Highlight the work she has already done
- An enquiry method
- Increase her social media following
Planning
After our initial consultation, I got to work on planning out the web design. The brief was very clear which made getting started straight forward.
First steps were to create a visually impressive homepage. Juliet was able to provide some fantastic photos, which got the project off to a great start.
Next I looked at the menu layout, user experience and customer journey. I wanted to ensure a simple flow through the site that ensured it supported Juliet’s objectives.
The wow factor of what Juliet provides is her voice, so we have a button to “Listen to Juliet” on the homepage photo to easily allow site visitors to find her USP straight away. We will be adding videos and recordings of her work at a later date.
Juliet wanted her site visitors to take one of two actions: either a social follow or an enquiry. I included various locations on the site encouraging social connection and a ‘sticky’ navigation bar to ensure the CONTACT link was always available when scrolling down the page.
A blog page was also added so that Juliet could write about her latest / upcoming performances. This will support her SEO and provide potential clients with another method for reading about her work.
To finish off the web design we ensured the site was complete with various testimonials of her work so anyone making an enquiry can be reassured about the quality of her services.
Finally, I completed an initial onsite optimisation to support her SEO and completed the social media integration.
